Åsa Plesner Assistant Professor

I work in the accounting section. My area is management control — that is, how budgeting, planning, measurement, and follow-up work in practice. I am particularly interested in the governance of contact-intensive professions in the welfare sector, and how employees in these professions relate to management control. My dissertation, About time: Workers and control in home care, examines how care workers enact, modify, and resist management control in home care services.

I defended my dissertation in June 2026. I also hold a master's degree in public administration from the School of Public Administration in Gothenburg, and have worked as a research assistant at Lund University, Department of Political Science. Prior to that, I worked in the school sector.
