About me

My research focuses on biogeochemistry in arctic environments. Permafrost is estimated to contain almost twice the amount of Hg compared to other soils, the atmosphere and the ocean combined. It is still unknown what risk mercury originated from permafrost poses to perturb global Hg cycling. During my PhD studies and as part of the GMOS Train project, I particularly aim to understand the mobility and transformation processes of terrestrial mercury that can emerge from thawing permafrost. I am especially interested in outreach activities and science communication and are part of the current PYRN ExCom.
