About me
I am a PhD student in the Department of Environmental Sciences working within the Exposure and Effects Unit.
I have a background in ecology and evoutionary biology, as well as international conservation. As of recently, I have embraced the power of next-generation DNA sequencing and meta-barcoding to study the interactions between a host and its microbiome.
I am currently working on the gut microbiome of the model organism Daphnia magna, widely used in ecology, evolutionary biology, and ecotoxicology research. The gut microbiome is associated with an array of health outcomes, and changes in the composition can have negative conseqences for the host. I am intereseted in how the dynamic bacterial gut microbiome is shaped by the host, the environment, and ecological stressors (e.g., antibiotics, microplastics, pharmaceuticals, etc...).
