About me
Doctoral Candidate in Public International Law with extensive experience from human rights work in civil society, the UN and the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (Sida). Mostly focused on Latin America, but also experience from working with Africa, Asia, Europe and Sweden. Expert on Transitional Justice with experience from the Colombian Truth Commission and as advisor on Transitional Justice with the Swedish Foundation for Human Rights. Expert on regional human rights systems .
Teaching experience from Human Rights in a Global Perspective, International Criminal Law, Human Rights in a Changing World, Local, National and International Human Rights, and Public International Law (Law Programme).
Research interests include Indigenous Peoples' Rights, Land Rights, Regional Human Rights Systems and Transitional Justice.
The doctoral project "Land and territorial rights of indigenous peoples in voluntary isolation: Norms in absence or absence of norms?" investigates the land and territorial rights of indigenous peoples in voluntary isolation. Since the integrity of the territory is pivotal for the survival and wellbeing of these peoples, the thesis focuses on territory as the central issue around which state obligations are constructed. Doing so, the thesis adds to the debate on the right to land for indigenous peoples in general, while more specifically contributing to the understanding of the territorial rights of indigenous peoples in voluntary isolation and the interplay of territorial rights and other central rights which are dependent upon access to territory.
