I am an urban historian, working as an assistant professor at the Institute of Urban History. My main research areas are the history of housing and social movements. My research has covered such areas as the history of housing policy and social housing, social welfare, homelessness, property owners´ associations, housing cooperatives and tenants´ unions in the 19th and 20th centuries. My PhD dissertation, which I defended in 2020, was a study of the emergence of the Swedish tenants´ movement in Gothenburg and Stockholm from 1875 to 1942. I wanted to better understand why the Swedish tenants´ movement, perhaps historically the strongest in the world, could come to gain such an influential position. My main result was that the early tenants´ unions gained a position as a collective bargaining party by militant actions connected to political mobilisation.
