About me

Johannes is a doctoral candidate at the Department of Political Science at Stockholm University and affiliated with the Stockholm Center on Global Governance. He is working with the research project, “The Global Governance of Artificial Intelligence,” led by Jonas Tallberg and Magnus Lundgren.

His dissertation project investigates various cooperation efforts to facilitate AI governance at the global and regional levels of governance. His work has been published in International Studies Review, Business & Politics, and Global Policy. During 2024, Johannes has been a visiting scholar at the Niehaus Center for Globalization and Governance at Princeton University and a GPEP affiliate fellow at the Mortara Center for International Studies at Georgetown University.

Teaching

Johannes is teaching quantitative methods, international politics, international security, and comparative politics within the course packages "Political Science I", "Political Science II", and "Political Science III". He is also supervising bachelor theses.

Research

Johannes' research is driven by the observation that the rapid development of artificial intelligence (AI) presents one of the most consequential governance challenges to date. His dissertation project, entitled “The Global Governance of Artificial Intelligence: Actor Preferences, Bargaining Dynamics, and Institutional Design,”investigates various cooperation efforts to facilitate AI governance at the global and regional levels of governance. His wider research interests include global governance, international political economy, and the politics of artificial intelligence. Methodologically, Johannes mainly relies on large-N data for descriptive and statistical analysis, as well as quantitative text analysis.
