I am a staff scientist at the Department of Environmental Sciences, Exposure and Effects Unit (ACESx) working on biomarker and adductomics analyses on environmental samples from the Baltic Sea for biological effects of contaminants in the environment. I also work on bioinformatics datasets (microbiome analysis and metagenomics) on samples from water, sediments, soils, and animals hosts.

I am a broadly trained aquatic biogeochemist and microbial ecologist interested in the microbial life in aquatic systems from shallow, freshwater lakes to deep-sea sediments. My PhD dissertation focused on nitrogen cycling in aquatic systems affected by harmful algal blooms. My postdoc project focused on exploration of shipwrecks as built environment influencing deep ocean sediment microbiomes in the Gulf of Mexico.
