About me

I am a PhD candidate in environmental science with a background in physical geography. As a polar biogeochemist I study how the melting glaciers of the Greenland Ice Sheet affect the fjords biogeochemistry. For that I focus on fjords in Sout East and Northern Greenland to assess the dynamics of greenhouse gases, nutrients and different carbon pools. By taking samples in the water column and surface sediments over several years I aim to quantify past and on-going changes across the ecosystem of the fjords such as patterns of dissolved methane or carbon burial and sources.

Apart from that I am a freelance cinematographer and like to create documentary formats to communicate our science to a broader audience.

GREENCARB

Climate change is speeding up glacier melt, releasing methane and carbon into oceans. This leads to CO₂ release via mineralization, contributing to acidification and greenhouse gas emissions. To predict carbon flux impacts on ocean chemistry, we need baseline data on the fate of this material.
