Majid Mustafa

I am a postdoctoral fellow funded by FORMAS – A Swedish Research Council for Sustainable Development.

I completed my MSc and PhD at Umeå University, Sweden, where I evaluated electro-peroxone process for removing pharmaceuticals and biocides from wastewater, comparing its efficiency to ozonation. After my PhD, I worked at Envix Nord AB, an environmental technology and consulting company, as a Water Treatment Technology Specialist. Later during the job, I joined the Department of Environmental Science as a visiting researcher. In November 2024, I was awarded the Formas early career research grant for my project, Halo-SERP, with the Department of Environmental Science, Stockholm Univeristy. In Halo-SERP, I am investigating the occurrence of organohalogen compounds in drinking water and developing a novel electrochemical reduction process for their removal.
