About me

Dr. Özge Altin is a postdoctoral researcher at the Stockholm University Institute for Turkish Studies. She received her PhD in Sociology from Uppsala University, where she was affiliated with the Institute for Housing and Urban Research (IBF). She holds an MA in Sociology from Istanbul Sehir University and a BA in Sociology from Istanbul Bilgi University.
Currently, she is associated with the global academic research training platform Institute for Statistical and Data Science (INSTATS), delivering seminars on research methods and offering academic mentoring to PhD and postdoctoral researchers in her role as an expert instructor. She previously served as Head of the Social Services and Consultancy Department at Istanbul Bilgi University. She has worked as a research assistant at the Centre for Urban Studies at Istanbul Sehir University, contributing to projects supported by the Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey (TUBITAK), MetroZones: the Center for Urban Affairs in Germany, and the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) in collaboration with Bauhaus University. During her master’s studies, she conducted research as a visiting scholar at the Centre for Gender Research at Uppsala University. She was also affiliated with the Economic and Social History Foundation of Turkey within the European Union Projects Department. She has additionally contributed to NGO- and research center–based projects in Turkey and Europe involving citizen science and participatory research.

Her research interests include gender studies, urban sociology, the production of public space, intersectionality, everyday life, internal migration, environment and labor relations, political sociology, and Turkish politics. Her work draws on qualitative and critical feminist research methods.
