About me
I am a Researcher and Associate Professor (Docent) with the Department of Sociology and Demography Unit (SUDA) at Stockholm University. I am affiliated with the research groups Global and Sexual Health (GloSH) at the Department of Global Public Health, Karolinska Institutet and Biocultural Lab for the study of Inequality and Social Stress (BLISS) at the Department of Anthropology, University of Toronto.
In 2025, I was awarded a €1.6M Starting Grant from the European Research Council for the project SeRO: Sexual and Reproductive Outcomes of Violent Crime in Mexico.
My research focuses on the intersection of violence, social inequality, and health dynamics, with an emphasis on reproductive rights and gender-based violence in Latin America. My primary research line focuses on the impact of armed conflict and violent crime on sexual and reproductive health, rights, and justice. I also study attitudes toward sexual and reproductive health and rights. More broadly, I am interested in social determinants of population health.
Previously, I was a postdoctoral fellow with the Department of Sociology and Center for Innovation in Global Health at Stanford University, and the Department of Global Public Health at Karolinska Institutet. I have previously been a guest researcher with Columbia University and El Colegio de México (Colmex). I earned my doctorate in sociological demography from the Department of Sociology at Stockholm University in December 2021.
