About me
I study the environmental impact and fate of per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS), with a particular focus on air-sea exchange processes and coastal contamination. My research lies at the intersection of environmental chemistry and atmospheric science, where I investigate how sea spray aerosol (SSA) can act as a vector for PFAS from the ocean to coastal environments.
I earned a B.Sc. degree in Chemistry at the University of Bremen before continuing at Leipzig University, where I completed my Master’s in Chemistry. During my master’s studies, I focused on PFAS research, which laid the foundation for my current doctoral work.
As a PhD researcher at Stockholm University, my work combines field sampling and continuous atmospheric deposition measurements to better understand how these persistent, surface-active chemicals move through marine and atmospheric systems. Along the northwest coast of Denmark, my research has already shown strong nearshore gradients in PFAS deposition driven by SSA-transport, providing empirical evidence that SSA represents a significant and previously overlooked pathway for contaminant transfer from the ocean to land.
I am always open to scientific exchange. Feel free to contact me if you have questions about my research or potential collaborations.
