Distributed Immersive Participation

Technological advances allow both humans and things to be more connected and exchange information. Our research focuses on how we can participate in real and virtual societies, with regards to application areas such as culture, transport, intelligent vehicles and e-health.

About me

I am a Senior Lecturer (Assistant Professor) at the Department of Computer and Systems Sciences at Stockholm University, Sweden.  I am part of the Distributed Immersive Participation research group. I teach immersive environments and eXtended Reality (XR), prototyping of games, playtesting, usability testing, inclusive design, human-computer interaction and am also supervisor for bachelor and master student exam works. Furthermore, I am also co-supervisor for a PhD student. My research mainly concerns inclusive design with focus on games and immersive environments but also ICT4D and Technology Enhanced Learning (TEL). I managed the Platform for Smart people project between 2022-2024, funded by Digital futures.

I often volunteer as reviewer for journals (e.g. Entertainment Computing, IEEE Transactions on Games), conference papers (ECGBL, FDG) and contributes as jury for game awards (ECGBL, CIPT awards). I started the IGDA Game Accessibility SIG in 2003. I am board member of the Swedish Council of Game Researchers. I and my colleagues recieved the Innovation in Audio Award at Independent Games Festival 2003 for Terraformers, a game for both blind and sighted. I was guest lecturer for six months during 2018 at Conservatoire national des arts et métiers (CNAM) in Paris and their game master programme ENJMIN in Angoulême.

Inclusive design of games, extended reality, and game development processes


Platform for Smart People

Autism is one the most common neurodevelopment diagnoses, and it implies severe disabilities for many people. This project is about creating a platform to help people with autism to be more independent in everyday life situations.

Inclusion in Societies Through Collaborative Digital Assistance

Society is racing toward AI, robots, and digital devices – but is everyone keeping up? In this community-based project, we investigate how people with visual impairment navigate collaboration and interaction in this digital shift regarding assistive tools.
