About me
My academic background is mainly in Human Geography (MSc, BSc) and History of Ideas (BA). My research interests are mainly linked to meaning-making practices during transformative geographical and social circumstances, with a specific focus on place-making, landscape interactions, and memory practices. With my master's thesis, for example, I explored collective memory among workers at the railway Roslagsbanan in Stockholm and the significance of this memory during changing geographical, social, and organisational conditions.
As of 2024 I am a PhD Student at the Department of Human Geography at Stockholm University. With my dissertation project I explore how mineral prospecting and mining plans affect people and places, with a particular focus on Oviksbygden in Jämtland (Sweden). Deploying an ethnographic approach, the project is based in the local context and everyday life to understand how different ways of understanding and being in the landscape are (re)shaped during ongoing exploration processes. The speculation that is happening, conceptions about the future of life and place, and how different people understand the landscape based on their lived experiences are important parts of this. As is how contemporary interests for the extraction of resources occur in light of a longer historical process of resource extraction in northern areas of Sweden.
I have taught in the following courses:
- Urban and Regional Planning—Practices, 7.5 hp (supervision)
- Bachelor's Thesis in Human Geography, 15 hp (supervision)
