Our research interests include topics such as gender inequality in the workplace, LGBTQIA+ rights, gender-fair language, and gender identities beyond the binary. Employing both quantitative and qualitative methods, we aim to foster diversity and inclusion and advance gender equality.

Welcome to the Gender Lab, led by Professor Marie Gustafsson Sendén. In this lab, we are actively researching:

  • Resistance to gender equality in highly gender equal countries
  • Belief in a sexism shift and trust in democracy and international relations.
  • Non-binary and trans-gender identity issues
  • Decision making processes of women and men in the workplace
  • Gender-fair language and its consequences for gender equality.

Some of the research lab's projects have received funding from the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme under the Marie Skłodowska-Curie grant agreement No 953326.

From Visibility to Inclusion? New research on transgender representation and discrimination

In her doctoral thesis, Sofia Bracco has looked at how trans and gender diverse people are represented in the media and perceived in the workplace – and what that visibility actually results in.
