We are investigating ocean processes that govern the release of short-lived climate forcers , such as volatile organic compounds, aerosol particles, methane and carbon dioxide. By understanding these processes, we can better assess their role in the climate system and their connection to marine ecosystems.
Our research group focuses on the processes that effect the exchange of climate-affecting substances between the ocean and the atmosphere. In particular, we study the emissions and turnover of short-lived climate forcers (SLCFs) such as volatile organic compounds (VOCs), aerosol particles and greenhouse gases such as methane (CH₄) and carbon dioxide (CO₂). By understanding these processes, we can better assess their role in the climate system and their connection to marine ecosystems.
