Abstract

Conscious mental features are often held to be accessible in a privileged manner by the subject of those features. We don't have the same kind of access to standing mental states - like beliefs and desires - which are outside the stream of consciousness. In this talk, I ask whether we can still make sense of some sort of first person privilege with respect to mental states.
