On academic skills trajectory

Abstract

Judith Martens works at the Centre for Philosophical Psychology at the University of Antwerp. She is interested in collective action based on habits and skills. In doing so, she draws inspiration from research in the philosophy of action, cognitive science, feminist literature on autonomy, and social ontology.

In the seminar I will present the academic skills trajectory that was developed at the Department of Philosophy in Antwerp. I will specifically zoom in on academic writing, a course in the second year of the bachelors. I will present the different exercises we have developed to practice writing a state of the art, argumentation, and a research paper. We also provide several tools and activities to guide students to a good writing environment that I will briefly go over, including guided writing sessions and discussing procrastination. I hope for an open conversation and bi-directional inspiration and we can discuss more details of any of the aspects in relation to your questions and our conversation.
