Highlights in Gender Studies: Critical Perspectives on Men and Masculinity, 2,5 ECTS
This PhD course is a two-day advanced introduction to interdisciplinary critical research on men and masculinities. The course aims to equip PhD candidates with an understanding of central perspectives and approaches within masculinity research.
The course covers the historical development of masculinity research, including its relation to feminist research, classical debates about hegemonic masculinity, and contemporary social science discussions. These include intersectional perspectives, as well as the emergence of new concepts such as caring, inclusive and hybrid masculinities. Moreover, the course introduces traditions that have been more prominent in the humanities, from queer theoretical critiques of masculinity to recent discussions about affect.

The course also offers participants opportunities to reflect upon questions and dilemmas related to their own projects.
The course will take place on Campus Frescati, Stockholm University. All seminars will be on-campus only. Seminar participation is mandatory.
