- The Swedish Research Council (VR) granted a research project to Linn Axelsson for the research project "Agents of Migration: A comparative study of migration intermediaries in three labour market sectors" (4.2 million SEK)
- Bo Malmberg as PI received a grant from Stockholms County Council for a study titled "Integration or segregation? A study of mobility and diversity in Stockholm" using a combination of survey data and mobile phone data (3 million SEK).
- In Horizon 2020 Eva Andersson and Bo Malmberg were succesful in attracting money in a project with Peter Schmitt. The project is called "RELOCAL: Resituating the local in cohesion and territorial development" and has 13 partners all over Europe with the lead partner being the University of Eastern Finland (total budget 4 million euro, our share 451,000 euro).
- Forte funded a project with PI Bo Malmberg on "Migrant trajectories: geographical mobility, family careers, employment, education, and social insurance in Sweden, 1990-2016". The project includes 17 researchers located at the Department of Human Geography and the Stockholm University Demography Unit (total budget 9 million SEK).

- Karen Haandrikman and Natasha Webster received a grant from the Swedish Research Council for Environment, Agricultural Sciences and Spatial Planning (Formas) for the project "Opportunities and Obstacles: Identifying hidden resources and skills to promote entrepreneurship among migrant women in Swedish regions" for three years (2016–2018).
- Maria Brandén (Demography Unit, Stockholm University) and Karen Haandrikman obtained a grant from the Swedish Research Council (VR) for the project "Apples that fall far from the trees. Childhood social context and its importance for intergenerational mobility" for three years (2016–2018).
