The Delegation for Migration Studies (DELMI) will fund a project on population structure and economic effects of immigration.
Researchers: Bo Malmberg, Jani Turunen (Stockholm University Demography Unit), Linn Axelsson and Thomas Wimark
Summary
Immigration to Sweden between 2000 and 2014 has led to much stronger population growth during this period than forecasted.
In this project we will use well-establsihed models for assessing demographic impact to analyse to what extent the Swedish macro-economy have and will be affected by this population expansion.
We will look at the effects on the dependency rate, on housing markets and GDP growth rates.
