Programme Office’s role

Since 2024, Stockholm University has served as the national programme office for Minor Field Studies (MFS). The responsibilities include handling applications from Swedish universities, distributing scholarships, collecting reports from participating universities, and overseeing the programme's implementation and reporting to Sida. Additionally, Stockholm University is responsible for developing guidelines for individual scholarship recipients and providing guidance to participating universities.

Starting in February 2026, the Programme Office plans to host an annual national MFS seminar where students will have the opportunity to present their field studies. The seminar will also provide a platform for connecting students with stakeholders from both the public and private sectors engaged in international development cooperation.

To increase accessibility to MFS results, the Programme Office is working on launching a central database in 2025, where students can publish their projects along with summaries.

Application and calls for proposals

The field study period for the academic year 2025/2026 will begin on June 1, 2025, and conclude on July 31, 2026. A total of 300 scholarships will be distributed among all Swedish higher education institutions for the 2025/2026 academic year. Universities may submit their applications for funding for this period until January 31, 2025.
