The Swedish Space Board has decided that SIW, (Stratospheric Inferred Winds) will follow MATS as the new Swedish Innosat Research Satellite. SIW is lead by Donal Murtagh at Chalmers and involve MISU (Department of Meteorology) researchers Linda Megner and Jörg Gumbel, among others. The satellite will, as the name suggests, measure stratospheric winds and give us a better understanding of dynamics. Launch date is planned for 2022.
