About the project

The Shift Worker is a research project of the Stress Research Institute. The site is aimed at those who work shifts, are schedulers or supervise a group that works irregular hours. The aim is that the information can be used for the creation of attractive and sustainable working hours that are good for both the organisation and the well-being and health of shift workers.

About the research

The research project MÄ bra i skiftarbete! Hur ser de goda lösningarna ut? was carried out during the years 2016-2020. The overall aim was to contribute knowledge that can be used to develop attractive and sustainable working hours for health care workers and other professionals who work shifts.

The studies examined the relationships between shift work, sleep and health. The impact of heavy shift combinations on the prevalence of problems associated with shift work was investigated using objective working time data.

The second aim of the study was to evaluate an intervention aimed at providing workers with tools to manage their sleep and lifestyle in order to minimise the risk of long-term health problems.
