The title of PhD Nyqvist’s talk in the högre seminariet is “Postmodern Pygmalion: Fabian Kastner’s Oneirine as a Composite Work of Art”. PhD Oja’s presentation “Appropriation and copyright laws” deals with copyright laws and how new artistic experiments in literature radically challenge the notion of originality and creativity in literature.
Sanna Nyqvist is currently working as a University Lecturer in Comparative Literature at the University of Helsinki. Her research interests include theories, concepts and practices of imitation and appropriation in literature and other arts. In September 2015 she will begin a three-year research project “Laws of Literature: Appropriation and Copyright in 21st-Century Literature” funded by the Academy of Finland.
Outi Oja works as a senior lecturer in the Department of Finnish language at the University of Stockholm and joined the Department in August 2013. She obtained her Ph.D. from the University of Jyväskylä in 2010. Her research areas and interests include Finnish contemporary literature, especially poetry, Finnish language and literature teaching (with a special interest in Finnish as a second language and teaching literature online) and literary forgeries and fraud in literature.
