The coastal zones are among the most effective areas on Earth at sequestering carbon from the atmosphere. Treated right, these ecosystems are important cornerstones in climate change mitigation, but if degraded, they instead release large amounts of greenhouse gases, re-enforcing global warming.

Welcome to join this year's conference where we high-light Baltic Sea research at Stockholm University. Abstract call is open until 30 August and contributions from all marine disciplines are welcome.

What we do

At Stockholm University, successful research and education about the marine environment has been conducted for over five decades. The Baltic Sea Centre's role is to strengthen and show this important activity. Here, researchers, environmental analysts and communicators collaborate to increase knowledge about the sea and support marine management of various environmental challenges.
