About me

I completed my BA degree in Oriental studies at Novosibirsk State University. My BA thesis was about “The Story of Hong Gildong”. I received my MA degree from the department of Korean philology at Seoul National University. My MA thesis was about the meaning of an adverb ‘geureoke’. I started my PhD studies in June 2016.

Teaching

I was enrolled in teaching Korean language on all levels and a special course in Korean literature at Novosibirsk State University in 2006-2007. I held a teaching position in National Diplomatic Academy of Korea in 2014-2016. Currently I have been teaching classes in Korean grammar on levels Korean 3 and 4 at Stockholm University.

Research

My PhD thesis is about pragmatics of Korean as foreign language (KFL). The dissertation focuses on analysing how learners of KFL with no instructions on pragmatics develop their grammatical and pragmatic competence from beginner to more advanced level. It aims to address previous studies’ weaknesses and focus on analysing various target speech acts of Korean language and their learning/teaching strategies.
