About the centre
The Center for Canadian Studies (CCS) is a network of researchers and individuals interested in Canada. The center promotes relations between Sweden and Canada and offers courses and activities about Canada.
Who are we?
The center is a collaboration between the International Association of Quebec Studies, the Center for Applied Linguistics (University of Latvia), the Swedish Association for American Studies (SAAS), the Association for Canadian Studies Netherlands, the Turku Academy (Finland) and the Embassy of Canada in Sweden. The center aims to support research projects related to cultural and social life in Canada. The center is under the responsibility of the Department of Romance Studies and Classics at the Faculty of Humanities.
Who were we?
The Center for Canadian Studies was founded in 1997 in collaboration with the Embassy of Canada in Sweden and the ICSS (International Council for Canadian Studies). The Canadian Institute organized various conferences on Canadian studies (researchers and authors from Canada). The agreement with the embassy ended in 2009 and the Department of French, Italian and Classical Languages became part of the Romance and Classical Department.
