About the course

This UL2 module is equivalent to three weeks fulltime studies (4,5 credits) and forms the base of a more flexible version of the Professional Development course 2 (equivalent to 7,5 credits). The UL2 Bas module is designed to be combined in parallel with, or in sequence with, another in-depth course in higher education teaching and learning equivalent to at least 3 credits. The module serves as a framework which includes an introduction to higher education pedagogy, supervision and peer review. In combination with the opportunity to independently focus on an area of your own interest you recive structure and support from both course colleagues and the supervisor assigned to you.

Course content and structure

The course consists of three compulsory seminars - two introductory seminars and one final seminar. You can also take the course over a longer period of time and take the final seminar the following semester. Furthermore, three supervision sessions are included during the chosen course period. The time and format for supervision seminars are decided between the course participant and supervisor. The course is bilingual (English and Swedish) and will be adapted as far as possible to the preferred language.

The content of the course is designed to support you in identifying and collecting evidence regarding a topic for educational development and hence serve as the start of a larger developmental project, or as a paper that later on could be sent in for publication.

After the course you will be able to:

  • Identify a pedagogical challenge within your own educational practice.
  • Place higher education teaching and learning on the scientific map.

  • Apply at least one feedback model to advance collegues writing on a higher education project.
