Symposium on N2 fixation

EVENT

Date: 19 August 2018, 1.30 PM - 19 August 2018, 5.00 PM
Venue: München Bryggeriet

All colleagues and students interested in the topic of aquatic biological nitrogen fixation are cordially invited to take part in the Symposium of Aquatic N2 Fixation on 19th August 2018.

The Symposium on Aquatic N2 fixation will be held in parallel with the 13th European Nitrogen Fixation Conference (ENFC) in Stockholm. It represents the first symposium solely dedicated to aquatic biological nitrogen fixation (BNF) and will bring together leading scientists focused on aquatic BNF, including biogeochemists, molecular biologists, and modelers. The symposium is embedded in the larger ENFC as an opportunity to integrate aquatic researchers with the ENFC for the first time.

The aquatic symposium invites participants with research activities of BNF associated with the Baltic Sea, given the immediate proximity and the observed annual blooms of N2 fixing populations of the Baltic proper. We also encourage research from field expeditions, lab-based work on aquatic N2 fixing organisms, and model based work on BNF are warmly welcomed to participate.

Our confirmed invited speakers for the Symposium

Professor Ilana Berman-Frank, Bar Ilan University
Professor Per Hall, Göteborgs University
Dr. Claire Mahaffey,University of Liverpool
Dr. Pia Moisander, University of Massachusetts, Dartmouth
Professor Helle Ploug, Göteborgs University
Professor Lasse Riemann, University of Copenhagen
Professor Jonathan P Zehr, University of California, Santa Cruz
