Nanoparticles in contact with blood: how harmful are they?
Welcome to the 11th Stockholm University Environmental Science Seminar (SUESS) of the year.
Karin Fromell, from Uppsala University, will speak about nanoparticles in contact with blood.
The toxicity and pathological potential of nanoparticles (NPs) in contact with blood and tissue depend on their specific properties. To address these issues, relevant and sufficiently complex laboratory methods are required. Therefore, we have developed a screening algorithm involving protein corona analysis, blood-based in vitro/ex vivo models, and proteomic/metabolomic profiling to evaluate NP-triggered pathological events.
