Studying with a Disability
At Stockholm University, we are committed to making sure that all students have the opportunity to study on equal terms. If you have a long-term disability, you may apply for disability-related study support. The aim of this support is to provide you with the necessary adjustments, enabling you to study on equal terms with other students.
To access support, you must submit an application through the system called Nais, which can be found on Stockholm University’s webpage for students with disabilities. Your application must include a medical certificate confirming your long-term disability.

Once your application has been submitted, it will be reviewed by a coordinator. If your application is approved without the need for a meeting, your certificate will be issued directly in Nais. If further information is needed or if a meeting is required, a coordinator will contact you before the certificate is issued.
Please note: Apply as early as possible, preferably before the start of the semester, as processing times can be lengthy.
Once support has been granted
- You must submit your certificate to the department’s dedicated email address for support matters: studeramedstod@aces.su.se. You will then be contacted via email with information on how your individual support needs will be meet. You will also have the opportunity to ask any questions you may have.
- It is your responsibility to inform the course coordinator for each course about the support needs you require. This must be done before the start of the course.
- For each exam, you are required to inform us of your support needs at least two weeks prior to the examination to ensure that all necessary arrangements can be made in time. Send this information to studeramedstod@aces.su.se
- If you are taking courses at another department, you must contact their designated contact person or the department directly as they may have different procedures.
