Master's Programmes

Our master's programmes are focused on climate change, environmental management, GIS and remote sensing, glaciology and polar environments, land- and water resources, landscape ecology and landscape analysis.

We offer five international master's programmes. They comprise 120 credits, corresponding to two years of full-time studies. Read more about each programme below.

The programme focuses on environmental science and physical planning. It provides students with a systems perspective on environmental issues, focusing on planning processes, international and transboundary issues, and practical training in tools such as systems analysis.

Environmental Management and Physical Planning

This programme will develop students’ skills in several fields, for example, photogrammetry, remote sensing, GIS as well as methods for modelling, explorative data analysis and visualisation with a focus on landscape information.

Geomatics with Remote Sensing and GIS

This Master’s programme develops skills in surface and groundwater hydrology and water-related decision-making. Case studies, field trips, modeling and data analysis are used to understand how water resources are affected by humans and climate and how they can be managed sustainably.

Water Resources

Landscape patterns and land use change are important components for understanding ecological processes affecting biodiversity and ecosystem functions and services.

Landscape Ecology

Analyzing the Earth’s landscapes, landforms, and sediments, you learn about climate and environmental changes and acquire useful transferable skills. Allows for specializations towards glaciology and polar environments, and climate reconstruction and modelling.

Freestanding courses at Master's (advanced) level

Most of our courses at master’s level (advanced level) are offered as freestanding courses.

All internships and degree projects at the advanced level are not given as independent/freestanding courses. More information can be found under Degree Projects and Traineeship.

Before applying for such a course, it is especially important to check the entry requirements. All our advanced level courses require knowledge in English equivalent to Swedish upper secondary school course English 6.
