Why is communication so complex and imperfect? What makes it so fragile? Despite its challenges, what drives us to continue communicating? These are the important questions we will explore together with Dominique Wolton, a researcher at CNRS and editor-in-chief of the journal Hermès. Wolton, who has conducted research for many years, has developed the concepts of incommunication and acommunication in an attempt to refocus on the interindividual and intercultural relationship, which is often overshadowed by the message. His innovative and relevant theories offer an enriching perspective on communication in Europe, which constantly strives to bridge conflicts and build a common future. This meeting will also provide an opportunity to discover his latest work in the issue of Hermès dedicated to the Nordic countries, titled: L’Europe du Nord, si proche si lointaine.
