Core information from the 13 research groups together with developments of administration and higher education in a changing environment will be covered in volume 1. The book is expected to be of value in different contexts, e.g., as a presentation of our department for our research and collaboration partners or as material of comparative studies. A deeper presentation of theories and methodologies used in dealing with ongoing research problems and discussions within the educational sciences will be further developed in a second volume to be planned at a later stage. Further information about the quality assurance process is presented below in this Guidelines.

Authors may choose the most appropriate language for each chapter (Swedish or English) and will provide a substantial concluding summary in the other language. This will secure that the book will be accessible both to national and international audience.

Editorial team: Annika Ulman, Camilla Thunborg, Frans Hagerman, Lázaro Moreno Herrera, Susanne Kreitz-Sandberg and Ulf Fredriksson.

The book will be published by Premiss Förlag allowing free distribution in digital format and printing on demand.

Quality assurance process

Texts from the research groups:

  • Research groups’ leaders are encouraged to discuss/review the contributions as considered best either in research seminar group discussion or by setting up Critical friend/s readers before the text is sent to the editors.
  • Review of the texts by the members of the editorial team.

Other texts: The editorial team will review and give feedback to the authors.

Guidelines for the review process

The publication is expected to essentially have a descriptive, analytical and problematizing character (if applicable). Overall the texts are expected to provide an overview of the development of the research group over time and the relevance of the activity or research field. Authors are expected to give particular attention to the quality of the structure, coherence, descriptive and analytical level and language quality.

Overall structure

The first volume of the anniversary publication has a historical profile showcasing the development of the Department of Education in terms of education, research, cooperation with society and international networking. Though some of the chapters deal specifically with each of these topics, they are interrelated in our work and consequently the texts might also reflect this interrelation. A second volume focused on the diversity of educational research at our Department will be published at a later stage.

Authors should consider 2011 as the foundation year of IPD. That is the year where the department received its present name and moved to the present facilities. Authors are welcomed to refer to backgrounds before 2011 that might be considered of relevance for the development of the area in focus.
