Environmental Humanities – Environmental Humanities Orientation course

Teaching consists of seminars, which may include lectures. All teaching is compulsory. 

Teaching takes place at a distance or on campus as specified for each occasion for the course. Teaching is in English. For more detailed information, please refer to the course description. The course description is available no later than one month before the start of the course.

Learning outcomes

In terms of knowledge and understanding
• Demonstrate familiarity with environmental humanities as a field, its knowledge genealogy and place within different disciplines.
• Demonstrate familiarity with contemporary uses of environmental humanities
• Demonstrate in-depth knowledge of different analytical methods in environmental humanities.

In terms of skills and abilities
• Demonstrate the ability to analyze and discuss texts and presentations orally and in writing, using different theoretical perspectives in environmental humanities.
• Demonstrate an understanding of how to work with environmental humanities in different fields of knowledge. 
• Demonstrate the ability to reflect on the application of environmental humanities to different sustainability challenges.

In terms of value capacity and approach
• Critically analyze, discuss and problematize different perspectives in environmental humanities.

The course is examined in writing and orally.
