Ecological and evolutionary responses to climate change

The focus of this course will be on ecological and evolutionary responses of organisms to climate change, mostly using examples from plants and animals.

This course exposes you to the latest research on the evolutionary and ecological consequences of climate change. The topic is presented through lectures, literature reading and discussion, and workshops including data analysis that aim to integrate climate change consequences on ecology, physiology, behaviour, and evolution. Topics will cut across biological scales and be focused on both terrestrial and aquatic ecosystems.

The course will be taught Stockholm University experts actively studying climate change and its biodiversity consequences. While the focus is on how non-human organisms are impacted, but there is the potential to learn about societal consequences along with potential mitigation approaches.



Teaching Format

The education consists of lectures, seminars, computer-, individual- and group- exercises through written and oral assignments. Participation in class in which assessment occurs is compulsory.

Measurement of knowledge is through written and/or oral assignments, individually and/or in groups.
