Evolutionary Ecology
The course focuses the ongoing interplay between ecological and evolutionary forces that gives rise to the impressing diversity in form, function and behavior among plants and animals.
The course covers advanced principles of evolutionary ecology, focused on animal and plant life history evolution, sexual reproduction and evolution of different mating systems, local adaptation, evolution of reaction norms and plasticity, aspects of social evolution in animals, speciation and species interactions, all in the context of the role of ecological variation.
Teaching Format
The education consists of lectures in connection to the course literature, as well as research seminars, exercises and one shorter individual project. Participation in seminars, exercises, project work and group education associated with this is compulsory.
