Finnish, Literary theory and Methods

The aim of the course is to provide you with thorough knowledge about modern literary theories and methods, as well as about the most important research results within Finnish literature studies.

The course is an obligatory part of the Master’s Programme in Literature with a specialization in Finnish Literature. It can also be a stand-alone course.

The course consists of two modules.

Modules

Literary Theory and Methods, 5 credits

The module discusses modern theories and methods within Finnish literary studies.

Finnish Literature Studies and Literature, 2,5 credits

The module consists of analysing Finnish literature in relation to literary studies.

Teaching Format

Instruction is in the form of lectures and seminars. The language of instruction is Finnish.

Assessment

The language of assessment is Finnish.

Literary Theory and Methods, 5 credits

The module is examined on the basis of a take-home examination.

Finnish Literature Studies and Literature, 2,5 credits

The module is examined on the basis of a oral exam.

Examiner

The schedule will be available no later than one month before the start of the course. We do not recommend print-outs as changes can occur. At the start of the course, your department will advise where you can find your schedule during the course.


Note that the course literature can be changed up to two months before the start of the course.
