Strategic Market Management

Strategic marketing is a central component of management in all types of organizations—commercial, public, and non-profit.

In this course, you will learn to define an organization’s relationship with its external environment and to analyze the business landscape and the market in order to develop competitive advantages in global markets.

The course covers topics such as:

  • Defining the organization’s vision and goals based on the prevailing conditions 7.5
  • Analyzing market environments through systematic examination of customer behavior, competition, and external factors to support strategic decision-making
  • Developing sustainable competitive advantages by identifying and leveraging unique resources and capabilities
  • Integrating contemporary market factors to enable ethical and effective decision-making

Teaching consists of lectures and seminars with presentations. Attendance at the seminars is mandatory. No more than one seminar can be compensated by a supplementary assignment.

The language of instruction is English.

Assessment

The course is examined through the following examination components:

Mandatory components:

1. Individual written exam (constitutes 70% of the final grade; examines learning outcomes 1–6). Voluntary components:

2. Case report (group assignment) (constitutes 20% of the final grade; examines learning outcomes 3–6).

3. Oral presentation (group assignment) (constitutes 10% of the final grade; examines learning outcomes 1, 3, and 4). Page 2 of 4

The examination is conducted in English.

The schedule will be available no later than one month before the start of the course. We do not recommend print-outs as changes can occur. At the start of the course, your department will advise where you can find your schedule during the course.
Note that the course literature can be changed up to two months before the start of the course.
