Laboratory exercise development for physics teachers

Foto: Jens Olof Lasthein
This course is focused on laboratory exercises and demonstrations for physics teaching at junior high or high school level. The course is adapted for working teachers.
You will get tools to help you analyze, evaluate and develop existing laboratory assignments as well as how to think about selection of content and assessment in relation to the school's governing documents. The rest of the course involves first taking stock of existing lab equipment and manuals at your school, and then developing new or modifying existing labs with modern tools such as commercially available sensors, single-board computers and apps, and basic topics such as measurement techniques, statistical and systematic errors and risk assessment.
The instruction consists of lectures, seminars, laboratory exercises, project work and supervision. The teaching is done remotely, with one or more on-campus meetings. The course may be partially taught in English.
The course is examined through written and oral presentation of the laboratory sessions and project work.
