French II for Teaching at Secondary Schools
The course French II (FR2LP3) builds on the knowledge and skills that students acquired in French I (FR1LP3). Its aim is to provide a deeper understanding of the French language, literature, and culture, while further developing students’ oral and written skills. In addition, one 7.5-credit module consists of a course in language didactics.
The course is intended for students in the teacher education programme and builds on the knowledge acquired in French I.
The course provides an in-depth understanding of the French language, literature, and culture, while further developing oral and written skills. The course includes modules on the French-speaking world, listening comprehension and language varieties, contemporary French culture and public debate, Francophone literature, language structure and vocabulary, linguistics, language history, and language didactics. The latter module (7.5 credits) focuses specifically on teaching and learning French at the upper-secondary level, including language didactic theory, digital resources, and assessment.
Modules
The course comprises the following modules: The Francophone World (3 credits), Listening Comprehension and Language Varieties (2 credits), Perspectives on Contemporary France (4.5 credits), Francophone Literary Authors (3 credits), Language Structure and Vocabulary (5 credits), Linguistics (3 credits), History of the French Language (2 credits), and Language Didactics (7.5 credits).
Teaching Format
"Teaching is conducted in French, and in both French and Swedish for the module in Language Didactics. Instruction takes the form of lectures, reviews, seminars, and exercises.
Attendance is compulsory for the Language Didactics module. A maximum of 20% absence may be compensated. This module is offered on campus in collaboration with the Department of Subject Didactics.
Teaching takes place either on campus or online (distance learning), depending on the course instance. For courses taught on campus, certain sessions may still be delivered online; this will be specified in the schedule no later than one month before the start of the course. More detailed information is provided in the course description, which will be available at least one month before the course begins.
