Earth Science and Sustainable Development
Through this course, you will learn about sustainable development from a geoscientific perspective.
The course focuses on the management of natural and water resources, as well as the challenges and environmental problems that may arise when different societal interests are set against long-term sustainability goals.
The studies are organized around a number of thematic areas where geoscientific perspectives and knowledge are applied to address various environmental challenges. The themes may cover opportunities and conflicts related to land use, biodiversity conservation, limited access to water resources, the use of Quaternary deposits, and the changing conditions for people and nature as a result of climate change in different environments, from global to regional and local perspectives.
This course is given in Swedish and English. It is a compulsory course within the Bachelor’s Programme in Earth Science, Physical Geography specialization, but it may also be taken as an individual course.
