The course offers an introduction to different circulation patterns, sediment types, environments and organisms in the World oceans and seas. Included is a field trip with Stockholm University's Research Vessel (RV) Electra to demonstrate geophysical mapping as well geologic (sediment) and oceanographic (water) sampling. Since this field trip will take place in the Baltic Sea, a deeper insight into the oceanographic, sedimentological and ecological conditions in the Baltic Sea will be provided during the course.
