GIS and Spatial Analysis II
The course is offered freestanding and is also elective within, among others, the Bachelor's Programme in Human Geography – Society, Environment and Global Processes, 180 HECs, the Bachelor's Programme in Urban and Regional Planning, 180 HECs, the Bachelor's Programme in Geography, 180 HECs, and the Bachelor's Programme in Global Development, 180 HECs.
Within the course framework, different types of data will be handled in both raster and vector formats and with various software. Methods for data capture and data processing are also discussed during the course. An element of basic spatial statistics is included in the course.
Teaching Format
Instruction is conducted in the form of introductiuon, lecturers, seminars and exercises.

Learning objectives
After completing the course, the student is expected to be able to:
- describe methods in spatial analysis, and what kinds of analyzes can be done based on different forms of geographic data.
- use geographical information practically in the analysis of socio-geographical phenomena and take into account various sources of error.
- critically evaluate projects or analyzes carried out with geographical information systems.
Assessment
Examination takes place via written exam and written assignments for exercises and seminars.
