Work Experience in Human Geography

The aim of the course is to provide insight into the professional field of human geography, thereby enhancing your employability. The course includes a placement related to human geography.

Work Experience in Human Geography, 15 credits, is offered as a standalone course during both the first and second half of the autumn and spring semesters. The course requires 150 completed credits, including a 15-credit degree project in human geography or geography, or 15 credits from a Master’s programme in human geography.

The student reflects for one thing on the industry for which (s)he is training and in what ways his/her own education answers to the competences required at the workplace, for another on the possibilities and limitations of the work at the placement and the choices and prioritizations made. Furthermore the student will reflect upon the relations between the workplace and the wider society. The student will keep a journal of her/his time at the workplace.

You are responsible for arranging your own workplace placement. The placement must be approved by the course coordinator before it begins.
