Theoretical Perspectives on Planning
This is a core course for students in the Master's Programme in Urban and Regional Planning, 120 HECs. The course is open for students on the third semester of the Master's Programme in Human Geography, 120 HECs, and the Master's Programme in Globalization, Environment and Social Change, 120 HECs.
The course deals with key literature discussing, for instance, shifting planning paradigms, the relation of planning and governance, the role and ethos of planners as well as crucial contextual issues such as language, neoliberalisation, power and politics.
Teaching Format
The course involves lecturers, seminars and exercises.

Learning objectives
Upon completion of this course you are expected to be able to describe, reflect on and interpret prevailing planning theories and paradigms and in writing and orally conduct an academic discussion on different questions and perspectives in planning theory.
Assessment
Assessment takes place through a written exam and assignments.
