Language in Use
This is a Master’s level course in Linguistics. The course provides a basis for linguistic analysis above sentence level by offering a broad orientation in discourse and interaction analysis.
Language in Use provides a theoretical and methodological basis for linguistic analysis above sentence level, by offering a broad orientation in current theories and methods in discourse and interaction analysis.
It also aims to provide experience in applying these methods to linguistic data and to analyse and discuss linguistic data by drawing on current discourse theoretical approaches.
Teaching Format
- The course is based on lectures and seminars.
- Teaching is conducted in the language specified for each respective course session.
Assessment
- The course is assessed through written assignments and a written report.
- The examination is conducted in the language specified for each respective course session.

(Note that older editions are very different and that we will use the 3rd edition.)
The textbook may be complemented by additional literature not exceeding 150 pages.
