Psycholinguistics

In this course, you will explore modern psycholinguistics from both theoretical and practical perspectives, firmly grounded in current neuroscience research.

You will work with core areas of psycholinguistics, including language comprehension, production, and interaction in both spoken and written language. You will also study how words, concepts, expressions, and sentences are mentally represented. All of these topics are examined from a neurolinguistic perspective, and you will be introduced to neurolinguistic methods and brain imaging techniques.

A particular emphasis is placed on studies that apply machine learning methods, statistical analysis, and other tools from language and speech technology.

Throughout the course, you will gain theoretical, practical, and technical skills to design, carry out, analyze, and present experimental studies in psycholinguistics, neurolinguistics, and language technology using neural data. You will also reflect on the ethical aspects of research.

You will receive training in quantitative and experimental methods, including quantitative data analysis with a focus on language technology applications.

In addition, you will gain knowledge of relevant areas within cognitive psychology, such as memory systems and memory processes, perception, and attention, along with an introduction to the brain’s functional anatomy.

Teaching Format

The teaching consists of lectures, group excercises and laborations.
