Decision Analysis II

The course covers basic argumentation theory, including the analysis of decision arguments made by authorities and political bodies.

You will learn how to assess the quality of bases for decision and determine whether an argument is binding. Since such analysis relies on logic, you will be introduced to essential concepts of logic.

In the first part, basic argumentation theory is dealt with. In the second part, policy analysis is dealt with within the framework of decision and risk analysis.


Teaching Format

Teaching consists of lectures and seminars. All teaching is campus-based and conducted in English.


Assessment

The course is examined through seminars, group assignments, and individual assignments, including multiple-choice questions and essay questions. 

All assignments must be performed and submitted on time according to the schedule of the current course. A missed or incomplete assignment can be re-submitted at a scheduled time window. Alternatively, the student will have to follow the schedule of next instance of the course.

Examiner


The schedule will be available no later than one month before the start of the course. We do not recommend print-outs as changes can occur. At the start of the course, your department will advise where you can find your schedule during the course.
Note that the course literature can be changed up to two months before the start of the course.
